Five Indicted for Drug Trafficking Activities in Virginia Beach

NORFOLK, Va. – A federal grand jury sitting in Norfolk, Va., has charged Romaroe Eugene Scott, 29, Damion Kirkland, 29, Marcus Dentmond, 25, Larry Alonzo Oliver, Jr., 26,  and Corey Silas Trowel, 34, all of Virginia Beach, with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 100 or more kilograms of marijuana; distribution and possession with intent to distribute quantities of cocaine and cocaine base; distribution and possession with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin; numerous counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, cocaine base, and heroin, and with maintaining several drug-involved premises.
            Neil H. MacBride, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, made the announcement.  The defendants will be arraigned on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 in the United States District Court in Norfolk. 

            According to both the 14-count indictment and the criminal complaint on file, the defendants are alleged to have been involved in distribution of approximately 400 pounds of marijuana and the intended distribution of approximately 1 kilogram of heroin in the Newtown Road and Baker Road areas of Virginia Beach.  Over $60,000 in criminal proceeds was seized when the defendants were arrested in October 2010. 

            This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Virginia Beach Police Department.  Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin M. Comstock is prosecuting the case on behalf of the United States.

            Criminal indictments and complaints are only charges and not evidence of guilt.  A defendant is presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty.
