PARMER COUNTY, TEXAS, MAN SENTENCED TO NEARLY 23 YEARS
AMARILLO, Texas — Claude Alexander Miller, II, a/k/a Kevin Miller, 59, of Bovina, Texas, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Mary Lou Robinson to 273 months in federal prison, following his guilty plea in May 2009 to one count of production of child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas. Judge Robinson also ordered that Miller, who is presently in custody, register as a sex offender and serve a lifetime of supervised release. According to documents filed when Miller entered his guilty plea, in November 2008, a three-year-old female child from Bovina cried out in a manner indicating that she had been sexually molested. The investigation revealed that Miller had frequently had the child visit him in his home and that he photographed her engaging in sexually explicit conduct on numerous occasions. Miller admitted that he persuaded, induced, enticed, or coerced the child victim to take part in sexually explicit conduct so that he could photograph it. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice, to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
