MAN SENTENCED TO MORE THAN 5 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON
In court documents filed when he pled guilty, Boyd admitted that at approximately 9:07 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2008, he entered the Amarillo National Bank branch located at NE 24th and Grand Street in Amarillo and approached a teller window. He told the teller to not make a fuss but that he had a pistol in his pocket and to give him all of the money. The teller complied and Boyd took the money and fled the bank. Around noon the following day, Boyd went to the Amarillo Police Department and advised the clerk that he wanted to discuss the bank robbery that occurred the previous day. Detectives took Boyd into an interview room, advised him of his Miranda warnings, after which Boyd advised them he wanted to speak to an attorney. He was then put into a live line-up and the victim teller identified Boyd as the bank robber. The case was investigated by the Amarillo Police Department and the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Drake prosecuted the case. ### |
