HIGGINS, TEXAS, MAN ARRESTED FOR POSSESSING CYANIDE

AMARILLO, Texas — Jeffrey Don Detrixhe, 38, of Higgins, (Lipscomb County), Texas, has been charged in a federal criminal complaint with knowingly acquiring, transferring and attempting to transfer, receive, stockpile, retain, own, possess, use and threatening to use sodium cyanide, announced U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper of the Northern District of Texas.

FBI agents executed a search warrant at Detrixhe’s residence in Higgins on Monday, May 12, 2008, and discovered a container of material suspected to be sodium cyanide. Detrixhe was arrested the same day without incident in Holly Creek, Oklahoma.

Today he made his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kimberly E. West, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal for removal to the Northern District of Texas to face charges.

U.S. Attorney Roper praised the investigative efforts of the FBI and noted that the investigation is continuing. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Drake of the Amarillo, Texas, U.S. Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
