FORMER NOKIA, INC. EMPLOYEE SENTENCED TO
MORE THAN TWO YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON, WITHOUT PAROLE,
FOR STEALING NEARLY $300,000 FROM EMPLOYER

A former employee of Nokia, Inc. in Irving, Texas, was sentenced today in federal court in Dallas, announced U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper, of the Northern District of Texas. Yvonne Gail Sanders, of Keller, Texas, was sentenced this morning by U.S. District Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn to 27 months imprisonment and ordered to pay $298,400.38 restitution to Nokia, Inc. Judge Lynn ordered that Sanders surrender to the Bureau of Prisons in June.

Sanders, 39, pled guilty in April 2006 to an information that charged her with one count of mail fraud. According to court documents, from March 24, 2004 to February 8, 2006, Sanders, a data entry operator, defrauded Nokia, Inc. by causing checks drawn on Nokia’s bank account to be mailed to a post office box she had opened in Irving, Texas, and then depositing those checks into her own personal bank account. She even wire-transferred funds from Nokia’s bank account to the bank account of her landlord.

U.S. Attorney Roper praised the investigative efforts of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lynn Hastings.
