WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, MAN SENTENCED TO MORE THAN 12 YEARS
IN FEDERAL PRISON ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CONVICTION

DALLAS, Texas — Michael Hogan, of Wichita Falls, Texas, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater to 151 months in prison on a child pornography conviction, announced U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper of the Northern District of Texas. Hogan will also be required to register as a sex offender under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act. Hogan pled guilty in August to an Indictment charging one count of transporting and shipping child pornography. Judge Fitzwater ordered that Hogan, 54, surrender to the Bureau of Prisons by January 15, 2008.

According to documents filed in the case, on April 11, 2006, while working in the Tulsa, Oklahoma office of the FBI, an FBI Special Agent used Limewire, a file-sharing software, to upload three images of child pornography from a shared file folder on Michael Hogan’s computer hard drive located at his home Wichita Falls, Texas.

On May 4, 2006, FBI agents interviewed Hogan at his home. According to the factual resume, he advised agents that he had been viewing, downloading and storing child pornography from a computer located in his residence. He also stated that he used Limewire to download child pornography and that he knew of other Limewire users who uploaded images of child pornography from his computer.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
