Mexican National Guilty of Federal Immigration Violations in East Texas

           TYLER, Texas - A 32-year-old Mexican National has pleaded guilty to federal immigrations violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.

           Raul Campos Alegria pleaded guilty on June 5, 2012, to being unlawfully in the United States after having been previously deported before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love.

           According to information presented in court, on Dec. 14, 2011, Alegria was located in Smith County, Texas after having been previously deported following a drug trafficking conviction.

           Alegria faces up to 20 years in federal prison, to be followed by deportation. A sentencing date has not been set.

           This case is being investigated by ATF and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Ann Cozby.
