TEXARKANA, Texas - A 40-year-old Texarkana, Texas, man has been sentenced to federal prison for firearms violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.

                Marcus Danielle House pleaded guilty on Feb. 29, 2012, to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Michael H. Schneider.

According to information presented in court, on Dec. 1, 2010, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at a Wake Village, Texas residence controlled by House.  The search revealed cocaine, methamphetamines, nearly $4,000 in cash, and digital scales used in the distribution of illegal drugs.  Officers also located a loaded handgun, a ballistics vest, and additional rounds of ammunition.  House was indicted by a federal grand jury on Oct. 5, 2011, and charged with federal violations.
This case was prosecuted as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods Initiative. Project Safe Neighborhoods is aimed at reducing gun and gang violence, deterring illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and body armor, and improving the safety of residents in the Eastern District of Texas. Participants in the initiative include community members and organizations as well as federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
This case was investigated by the ATF and the Texarkana, Texas Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise O. Simpson.
