Jefferson County Man Sentenced for Child Pornography Violations

 BEAUMONT, Texas – A 39-year-old Nederland, Texas man has been sentenced to federal prison for child pornography violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.
 
Donovan Ray Kendrick pleaded guilty on June 12, 2012, to possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Thad Heartfield.

According to information presented in court, in December 2010, law enforcement officers and agents executed a federal search warrant at Kendrick’s residence in Nederland, Texas. A personal computer was seized during the search.  A forensic analysis of the computer revealed 8 images of child pornography, and at one point had contained at least 34 images.  At least one image included a prepubescent minor younger than 12 years of age.  

 
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. This case was investigated by the HSI/ICE, the Nederland Police Department, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Marshal Service, and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.  This casse was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher T. Tortorice.
