UPSHUR COUNTY MAN SENTENCED FOR FEDERAL CRIMES

                TYLER, TX – United States Attorney John M. Bales announced today that an Upshur County man has been sentenced for drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas.
 
                BOBBY ARLEN RAY, JR., 48, of Ore City, Texas, pleaded guilty on October 11, 2011, to possession of a List 1 chemical with intent to manufacture methamphetamine, and was sentenced today to 100 months in federal prison during a hearing before United States District Judge Leonard E. Davis. 

                 According to information presented in court, Ray purchased cold pills containing pseudoephedrine at a Wal-Mart store in Longview, Texas, on March 31, 2010, as well as on numerous other occasions at various stores in the area in furtherance of his methamphetamine manufacturing activities.  Ray was named in a 56-count federal indictment returned on April 6, 2011. 

                 This case was investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division and the Upshur County Sheriff's Department.  This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jim Middleton.
