Fannin County Man Guilty of Destroying Mail

SHERMAN, Texas – A 25-year-old Honey Grove, Texas man has pleaded guilty to federal violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.

John Robert Manseau pleaded guilty to destruction of mail today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Amos Mazzant.

According to information presented in court, on June 24, 2011, Manseau broke into the Pecan Gap Post Office in Pecan Gap, Texas.  While there, Manseau vandalized the office and destroyed and rifled through mail that belonged to approximately 40 individuals.  Manseau was indicted by a federal grand jury on Aug. 9, 2012. 

Manseau faces up to 3 years in federal prison at sentencing.  A sentencing date has not been set.

This case is being investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard J. Johnson.
