Colorado Man Sentenced for Tax Violations in East Texas

TYLER, Texas – A 62-year-old Aurora, CO, man has been sentenced to federal prison for income tax violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney John M. Bales today.

Randall Craig pleaded guilty on May 19, 2011, to failure to file a federal income tax return and was sentenced to 12 months in federal prison today by U.S. Magistrate Judge Judith K. Guthrie.

According to information presented in court, Craig failed to file a tax return for 2003, when he had gross income of just over $212,000.  The tax loss for that year was $51,882.00.  Craig was sentenced to 12 months in federal prison and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $376,714.77, which included taxes owed for other years.

              This case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan R. Jackson.
