Illinois Man Indicted for Failure to Pay Legal Child Support

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Pleasant Hill, Illinois, man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Failure to Pay Legal Child Support.

Bryan L. Pults, age 41, was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 5, 2012, on two counts of failing to pay past due child support that totaled over $63,000. He appeared before US District Judge Lawrence L. Piersol on August 2, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is two years of imprisonment. a $250,000 fine, and child support restitution amount owing at the time of sentencing. The charge is merely an accusation, and Pults is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General. Assistant US Attorney Thomas J. Wright is prosecuting the case. Pults was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not yet been set.
