Sioux Falls Man Charged with Bank Robbery

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Sioux Falls man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for bank robbery.

Alvione Jones, age 21, was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 10, 2012, for bank robbery. He appeared before US Magistrate Judge John E. Simko on July 11, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison with a maximum of life imprisonment. The charge is merely an accusation, and Jones is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Sioux Falls Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant US Attorney Dennis R. Holmes is prosecuting the case. Jones was remanded to the custody of the US Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
