Pine Ridge Man Sentenced for Drug Conspiracy

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Pine Ridge, South Dakota, man charged with Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance was sentenced on November 2, 2012, by United States District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Dustin Santos, age 32, was sentenced to 30 months in custody, 3 years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Santos was indicted for Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance by a federal grand jury on December 21, 2010. The charge relates to Santos conspiring with others to distribute methamphetamine in South Dakota between 2008 and 2010. Santos pled guilty to the charge on June 25, 2012.

This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team. Assistant United States Attorney Ted McBride prosecuted the case.

Santos was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal.
