Colorado Woman Sentenced for Stealing at Mt. Rushmore

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Colorado woman charged with Larceny was sentenced on July 9, 2012, by U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy. Raquel Janet Diaz, age 34, was sentenced to time served and ordered to pay $25 to the Victim Assistance Fund.

In May 2012, Diaz stole jewelry, clothing, and other items from the gift shop at Mt. Rushmore National Memorial. She pled guilty on July 9, 2012.

This case was investigated by the National Park Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman prosecuted the case.
