Kyle Man Pleads to Larceny

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Peter K.C. Gay, Jr., age 24, of Kyle, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy  on May 11, 2012, and pleaded guilty to a charge of Larceny.  The maximum penalty upon conviction is 1 year of imprisonment and/or a $100,000 fine.

In February 2010, near Pine Ridge, Gay broke into an Oglala Sioux tribal government agency and stole laptop computers, power cords, binoculars, a headlamp, and a camera.  The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety.  The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Collins.

A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for July 20, 2012.  The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
