Louisiana Man Sentenced for Failing to Update Sex Offender Registration

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Louisiana man charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender was sentenced on February 10, 2012, by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Jody Ray Dutton, age 51, was sentenced to 24 months' imprisonment, 10 years' supervised release, and a $100 victim assessment.

Between March 2010 and January 2011, Dutton, who is required to register as a sex offender, failed to update his registration. He pled guilty on November 14, 2011.

This case was investigated by the U.S. Marshal’s Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman prosecuted the case.

Dutton was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
