Rosebud Man Charged with Theft from Indian Tribal Organization and Aiding and Abetting

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rosebud, South Dakota, man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Theft from Indian Tribal Organization and Aiding and Abetting. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 5 years’ custody, a $250,000 fine, or both; 3 years of supervised release; and a $100 special assessment. Restitution may also be ordered. The charge is merely an accusation, and Janis is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher. Janis was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal. |
