Indiana Man Pleads Guilty to Failure to Pay Legal Child Support

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a New Castle, Indiana, man charged with Failure to Pay Legal Child Support was sentenced on October 17, 2011, by US District Judge Charles B. Kornmann. Scott D. Fetty, age 38, was sentenced to five years of probation, a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund, and child support restitution in the amount of $25,700.26.

Fetty was indicted for failing to pay over $24,000 in past due child support by a federal grand jury on November 2, 2010. He was ordered by the Marion Circuit Court, Marion County, Indiana, to pay $229.49 per month for his minor child, commencing July 28, 2000. At the time of indictment, he had not made a child support payment since August of 2008, and the total arrearage amount was $24,575.39. He pled guilty to the charge on October 17, 2011.

This case was investigated by the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General. Assistant US Attorney Thomas J. Wright prosecuted the case.
