PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A resident of Pittsburgh, Pa., was sentenced in federal court on Thursday, May26, 2011, to 33 months imprisonment followed by three years supervised release on his conviction of violating federal narcotics laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

United States District Judge Terrence F. McVerry imposed the sentence on Thomas Ferrieri, 25.

According to information presented to the court, from January 2009 to December 15, 2009, Ferrieri conspired to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.  Judge McVerry ordered Ferrieri to begin service of his sentencing immediately.

Assistant United States Attorney Craig W. Haller prosecuted this case on behalf of the United States.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Drug Enforcement Administration; the Pittsburgh Police Department; the Pittsburgh Division of Weed and Seed; the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office; the Pennsylvania State Police; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; the United States Marshals Service; and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Ferrieri.
