Felon Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For Possessing Weapon And Crack Cocaine
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ‑ A resident of Pittsburgh, Pa., was sentenced in federal court on Jan. 6, 2011, to 10 years in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release on his conviction of violating federal firearms and narcotics laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Senior United States District Judge Alan N. Bloch imposed the sentence on Kevin Lamont Johnson, a/k/a Brian Miller, 25.
According to information presented to the court, after having been convicted on Jan. 16, 2008, of the crime of possession with intent to deliver heroin, and after having been convicted on March 3, 2005, of the crime of carrying a firearm without a license, which are crimes punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year, on June 20, 2008, during a traffic stop, Johnson was in possession of a loaded 9mm pistol in connection with 5.86 grams of crack, which he admitted that he possessed with the intent to deliver. Johnson also accepted responsibility for possessing ammunition, which he used in the accidental shooting death of 12‑year‑old Kholen Germany on April 18, 2008. Additionally, Federal law prohibits anyone who has been convicted of a crime punishable by a term of imprisonment exceeding one year to possess a firearm or ammunition.

This case is being prosecuted under Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and communities to prevent, deter and prosecute gun crime.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the City of Pittsburgh Police Bureau for their investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Kevin Lamont Johnson.
