Treasurer Sentenced For Embezzling Union Funds

ERIE, Pa. ‑ A resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court to four years probation and ordered to make $5,778.01 in restitution on his conviction of embezzlement from a labor organization, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

Senior United States District Judge Maurice B. Cohill, Jr. imposed the sentence on Antonio Jordan, 38.

According to information presented to the court, during the approximate four year period between March 5, 2005 and February 25, 2009, while he was employed as a Treasurer for Communications Workers of America, AFL-CIO, local union number 38187, Jordan embezzled $8,767.40 by using a credit card assigned by the union for personal expenses which were then paid for with union funds maintained in union accounts.

Assistant United States Attorney Marshall J. Piccinini prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the United States Department of Labor, Office of Labor-Management Standards for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Jordan.
