Guatemalan Sentenced To Time Served For Illegally ReĀ­Entering U.S.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, March 24, 2010, that on March 23, 2010, Pascual Lorenzo-Cano, a resident of Guatemala, was sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to time served of approximately three months, in addition to one year of supervised release on his conviction of violating federal immigration laws.

Senior United States District Judge Maurice B. Cohill imposed the sentence on Lorenzo-Cano, age 19, of Guatemala.

According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Charles A. Eberle, Lorenzo-Cano was previously been deported from the United States pursuant to law on March 28, 2008, and he was found in Pittsburgh on December 14, 2009, after having illegally re‑entered the United States without having applied for and received permission from the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security to re‑enter the United States.

Mr. Cessar commended the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Allegheny County Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Lorenzo-Cano.
