Federal Inmate Sentenced For Possession Of Contraband

ERIE, Pa. - Acting United States Attorney Robert S. Cessar announced today, April 15, 2010, that Reginald Carter, an inmate at the McKean Federal Correctional Institution in Bradford, Pennsylvania plead guilty and has been sentenced in federal court in Erie to fifteen months in jail on his conviction of possession of contraband in prison.  The sentence will be served consecutively to the one hundred and fifty month term of imprisonment Mr. Carter was previously serving at the time of this offense.

United States District Judge Sean J. McLaughlin imposed the sentence on Carter, age 37.

According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Christian Trabold, on January 11, 2010, Carter was in possession of a weapon, described as an eight­inch piece of wood sharpened to a point.

Mr. Cessar commended the Officers of the McKean Federal Correctional Institution for conducting the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Carter.
