Ahmed F. Ahmed, a/k/a “Andy Ahmed,” 48, of Downingtown, PA and Mohamed A. Matty, a/k/a/ “Dr. Maaty,” 48, also of Downingtown, PA were charged today by Indictment with one count of engaging in a pattern or practice of employing unauthorized aliens, announced United States Attorney Zane David Memeger.

Ahmed owns the “Exton Diner” at 100 Marchwood Road in Exton, PA. According to the indictment, Ahmed hired undocumented aliens to work at the Exton Diner without requiring that they produce proof of legal residence in the U.S. nor proof of authorization to work in the U.S. It is further alleged that Ahmed paid these workers in cash and failed to complete and maintain Employment Eligibility Verification Forms (I-9) for these undocumented workers.

Matty owns the “Happy Days Family Bistro” at 3470 Lincoln Highway in Thorndale, PA. According to the indictment, Matty hired undocumented aliens to work at the “Happy Days Family Bistro” without requiring that they produce proof of legal residence in the U.S. nor proof of authorization to work in the U.S. It is further alleged that Matty paid these workers in cash and failed to complete and maintain Employment Eligibility Verification Forms (I-9) for these undocumented workers.

If convicted the defendants face a maximum possible sentence of six months imprisonment.

The case was investigated by agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and is being prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Karen Fox.
