Las Vegas, Nev. – The federal grand jury has indicted a man on drug and firearm charges after North Las Vegas Police Department Officers recovered almost 10 ounces of crack cocaine and a stolen handgun in his vehicle, announced Daniel G. Bogden, United States Attorney for the District of Nevada.

Lomando Mark Scott, 43, of North Las Vegas, is charged in an indictment dated August 24, 2010, with two counts of possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, and one count of possession of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime.

All but one of the charges arises from an arrest of the defendant made on August 11, 2010, by North Las Vegas Police Department Officers. The officers responded to a request for assistance by Clark County officials who were serving an eviction notice at a home in North Las Vegas occupied by Scott. Officers determined that Scott was a convicted felon who had not reported a change in address and placed him under arrest. Officers allegedly found $10,803 in cash in Scott's pant pockets, and 250 grams of crack cocaine and a loaded stolen semi-automatic handgun in his vehicle. The other charge arises from an incident and arrest on May 22, 2009, when Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Officers allegedly found seven grams of crack cocaine on Scott's person.

Scott was previously convicted in federal court in Nevada of possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute and sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was on federal supervised release at the time of the May 2009 and August 2010 arrests.

If convicted, Scott faces at least 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 on each count.

The investigation is being conducted by the DEA and North Las Vegas Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Amber M. Craig.
