Reno, Nev. – Three men who robbed a Summerlin-area bank by gunpoint in 2006 have been sentenced to lengthy federal prison sentences, announced Gregory A. Brower, United States Attorney for the District of Nevada.

Dominic Anthony Davis, 34, was sentenced on Monday, April 28, 2008, to 209 months in prison, and co-defendants, Harlon B. Jordan, 28, and Kurt J. Myrie, 27, were sentenced on Monday, April 21, 2008, to 199 months and 194 months, respectively, in prison. Davis and Jordan were convicted by a jury on December 19, 2007, of conspiracy to commit bank robbery, armed bank robbery, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. Myrie pleaded guilty to the same charges on December 14, 2007.

"Wearing disguises and brandishing firearms, these defendants frightened, intimidated, and threatened both customers and bank employees, said U.S. Attorney Brower. "The message should be clear: criminals who use firearms to commit their crimes will be prosecuted and, if convicted, will face significant prison terms."

According to the court records, on June 15, 2006, Davis, Jordan, and Myrie arrived at the Colonial Bank at 7451 West Lake Mead Boulevard in Las Vegas and parked in a handicapped parking space. The defendants exited the vehicle wearing hooded-type shirts and masks, entered the bank, and ordered everyone to the floor. Two of the robbers jumped over the teller counter, while the third robber waited by the front door and kept track of time. After being told that none of the tellers had keys to the bank vault, one robber threatened and intimidated a female teller by throwing her to the ground and forcing her to empty her teller drawers, while the other robber held a semiautomatic handgun near her head. The teller gave the robbers approximately $3,000 in currency, along with some marked "bait" bills, and an electronic tracking device. The defendants fled the scene in their automobile. Law enforcement officers tracked the defendants to U.S. Highway 95 southbound through the electronic tracking device, and attempted to stopped their vehicle. When the defendants failed to stop, an officer utilized a immobilization technique and struck the rear of the robbers' vehicle, causing it to spin and come to a stop. One robber exited the vehicle and attempted to flee, but submitted when confronted by an officer's shot gun. Inside the robbers' vehicle, officers found several black hooded sweatshirts, latex rubber gloves, three loaded handguns, black masks, the electronic tracking device, and the stolen currency.

Davis has three prior felony convictions in California -- one for Grand Theft Auto and two for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Jordan also has three prior felony convictions in California for Robbery, Taking a Vehicle without Owner's Consent, and Possession of a Narcotic Controlled Substance. Myrie did not have any prior criminal convictions; however, at the sentencing hearing, an FBI Special Agent testified that Myrie committed three California bank robberies in the year 2000.

The case was investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and FBI, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Ray Gattinella and Pam Martin.
