Las Vegas, Nev. - Daniel G. Bogden, United States Attorney for the District of Nevada, Ellen B. Knowlton, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for Nevada, Tim Landrum, Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in Las Vegas, and Clark County Sheriff Bill Young of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, announce that DWAYNE T. DUNLAP, age 35, of Sacramento, California, was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Judge Larry R. Hicks to 144 months in federal prison and five years of supervised release for his guilty plea to Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance (PCP).

DUNLAP was one of six persons charged in October 2001 in United States District Court in Las Vegas with Conspiracy to Distribute PCP and Distribution of PCP. On November 5, 2002, DUNLAP pleaded guilty to being a member of the conspiracy which distributed large quantities of PCP in Las Vegas on three occasions in July 2001. On July 12, 2001, one ounce of liquid PCP was sold for $320; on July 19, 2001, seven ounces of liquid PCP was sold for $2,000; and on July 23, 2001, forty ounces of liquid PCP was sold to an undercover officer for $8,200. During the last sale, several members of the conspiracy acted as lookouts and provided protection for the co-conspirator who conducted the transaction in a men's restroom at a Las Vegas area mall. The forty ounces of PCP is believed to have been transported to Las Vegas from Sacramento, California.

Two co-defendants also received significant prison sentences in the case: Melvin James Churchill, Jr. was sentenced to 151 months in federal prison on July 1, 2002, and Jaime R. Gregory was sentenced to 136 months in federal prison on August 9, 2002.

The prosecution and conviction of DWAYNE T. DUNLAP is the result of an investigation by Special Agents of the FBI and DEA and Detectives of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kimberly Frayn and Darin LaHood.
