Reno, Nev. - Daniel G. Bogden, United States Attorney for the District of Nevada, Ellen B. Knowlton, Special Agent-in-Charge of the FBI for Nevada, and Dennis Balaam, Washoe County Sheriff, announced that on November 20, 2002, a federal Grand Jury in Reno, Nevada, returned separate Indictments against out-of-state men for child pornography charges. ROBERT FLYNN, age 52, of Brookfield, Illinois, was indicted and charged with for Production of Child Pornography, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2251(a) and (d), and JOHN CHRISTOPHER MOUNCE, aka KUTAFFA, aka KRIS KERR, age 23, of Somerset, Kentucky, was indicted and charged with Attempted Sexual Exploitation of Children, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2251(a) and (d).

According to the court records, on July 23 and July 24, 1999, ROBERT FLYNN traveled to Reno, Nevada, and videotaped himself having sex with a juvenile. On November 14, 2002, federal agents executed a search warrant at FLYNN's residence in Brookfield, Illinois, and a copy of the videotape was seized. FLYNN has also been charged in the Northern District of Illinois with Transportation and Possession of Child Pornography. FLYNN was arrested in Brookfield, Illinois, on November 14, 2002, and is released on bond and electronic home monitoring in the Northern District of Illinois awaiting trial.

According to the court records, between April 9, 2002, and November 1, 2002, JOHN CHRISTOPHER MOUNCE began a relationship in an Internet chat room with an individual he thought was a 12-year-old girl, but who actually was an undercover Washoe County Sheriff's Office detective. MOUNCE asked the 12-year-old to take sexually-explicit photographs of herself and send them to him. MOUNCE also requested that the 12-year-old recruit other children age 10 and under who would be willing to be filmed, and stated that he would pay the girl for the photographs. MOUNCE also stated that he could travel to meet the girl for sex. On November 8, 2002, MOUNCE was arrested in Somerset, Kentucky, and he remains in federal custody there.

If convicted, both defendants are facing a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of ten years and a $250,000 fine. Sentences in the federal court system are imposed in accordance with the United States Sentencing Guidelines which take into account a number of factors, and are imposed at the discretion of the Court.

Both cases are being investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and detectives with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office in Reno. The case against ROBERT FLYNN is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Craig Denney. The case against JOHN MOUNCE is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ron Rachow.

The public is reminded that the Indictments contain only charges and are not evidence of guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to fair trials at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
