Las Vegas Street Gang Member Sentenced to 60 Months In Federal Prison for Being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm
Las Vegas, Nev. - Daniel G. Bogden, United States Attorney for the District of Nevada, and Keith Heinzerling, Resident Agent-in-Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol and Firearms for announced that JAJUANE HANKINS, aka JAJUANE FISHER and "E-Wak" was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Judge Phillip Pro to 60 months in federal prison. HANKINS age , (INSERT HIS AGE), of Las Vegas, and a known member of the Las Vegas street gang, the Gerson Park Kingsmen, was convicted by a jury in May of this year for possessing a loaded Ruger, millimeter semi-automatic pistol. HANKINS has a 1996 felony conviction for possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. Under Title 18 United States Code, Section 922(g)(1), it is unlawful for any person who has been convicted in any court of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year to possess a firearm which has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.
In addition to the 60 months in prison, HANKINS was also ordered to serve a three-year period of supervised release following his release from prison, and to pay a fine of $1,000 and special assessment of $100.
The prosecution and conviction of JAJUANE HANKINS is the result of an investigation by agents of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kathleen Bliss.
