Lexington Duo Charged With Document Fraud
Anna Mills Wagoner, U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina, announced today that Silvia Hernandez Figueroa, 41, and Carlos Conejo Jimenez, 32, both of Davidson county, NC, were indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on May 29 and charged with 18 counts of aggravated identity theft and the production of fraudulent social security cards and alien registration or "green" cards.
Figueroa and Jimenez were arrested on Tuesday, May 8, in Lexington, NC at the conclusion of an investigation by special agents from the Department of State's Diplomatic Security Service, the Social Security Administration Office of Inspector General, the Lexington Police Department, the Davidson County Sheriff's Department and the NC Division of Motor Vehicles.
Resident Agent in Charge Greg Sherman of the Diplomatic Security Service noted that "The Diplomatic Security Service is proud to partner with these federal, state and local law enforcement agencies and will continue to aggressively investigate fraudulent identity documents in North Carolina. Their efforts and the outstanding support of the U.S. Attorney's office in Greensboro are vital to our efforts to help secure America's borders."
