Greensboro, NC – David Campbell Jones, age 47, pled guilty to enticement of a minor, announced Anna Mills Wagoner, United States Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina. Mr. Jones was a teacher at Guy B. Phillips Middle School in Chapel Hill at the time of the incident.

On August 6, 2006, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a parent who had discovered some suspicious emails addressed to his 15 year-old son, from an adult male. Included in the emails was a photograph of the suspect. Investigators examined the photograph and identified the suspect as David Campbell Jones, a teacher at Guy B. Phillips Middle School in Chapel Hill. On August 8, 2006, the son and deputies initiated an online chat with Jones. Arrangements were made for Jones and the minor to meet the next day. On August 9, 2006 Jones was observed leaving his residence and traveling to the child’s residence. He was arrested after he entered the child’s residence.

On March 26, 2007, a Grand Jury for the Middle District of North Carolina returned indictments against David Campbell Jones for enticement of a minor and possession of child pornography. Jones plead guilty to enticement of a minor on May 9, 2007, in Federal District Court in Greensboro, Judge William Osteen presiding. Jones faces a mandatary minimum of 10 years imprisonment. Sentencing is scheduled for August 29, 2007.
