correctional institution employees arrested on bribery related offenses

RALEIGH - United States Attorney Thomas G. Walker announced today that RHONDA BOYD, 27, and RAYE LYNN HOLLEY, 49, correctional officers at the Rivers Correctional Institution, Winton, North Carolina, under contract with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, were arrested on bribery offenses.

On October 3, 2012, a grand jury in the Eastern District of North Carolina returned a Criminal Indictment charging BOYD with conspiracy to commit bribery and acceptance of a bribe, violations of Title 18 United States Code, Sections 371 and 201(b)(2)(C), and HOLLEY with accepting a bribe, a violation of Title 18 United States Code, Section 201(b)(2)(C).  The indictment alleges that these offenses took place from early 2011, up to and including the present time, and involved these defendants smuggling contraband such as cell phones and cigarettes into the correctional facility.

Investigation of this case was conducted by the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance provided by the Hertford County Sheriff=s Office.
