FUQUAY-VARINA MAN SENTENCED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

RALEIGH - United States Attorney Thomas G. Walker announced that in federal court yesterday, MARIO DEVONNE JONES, 29, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for conspiring to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine and powder cocaine, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841 and 846.

The investigation revealed that JONES possessed and distributed, from 2006 to November, 2010, large amounts of crack cocaine and cocaine in southern Wake County, North Carolina.

The investigation of this case was conducted by the Fuquay-Varina Police Department, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The investigation into drug trafficking in the Fuquay-Varina area, entitled “Operation Freight Train,” is ongoing.
