greenville drug dealer receives federal sentence
NEW BERN - United States Attorney Thomas G. Walker announced that in federal court today United States District Judge Louise W. Flanagan sentenced KEITH MAURICE JENKINS, 34, of Greenville, North Carolina, to 75 months imprisonment followed by five years supervised release.
A Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment on October 11, 2011. On December 13, 2011, JENKINS pled guilty to conspiring to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin.
According to evidence presented in Court, in 2011 an investigation was opened and a number of controlled buys were conducted during which JENKINS sold varying amount of heroin. Following the final controlled purchase on August 24, 2011, JENKINS was arrested. During a search of the premises where the drug deal took place, officers found 3.12 grams of heroin and other packaging materials used in packaging the drug.
Following his arrest, JENKINS stated that he sold between 7 to 14 grams of heroin every month and a half from 2003 to 2011. He further stated that he obtained the heroin from a dealer in New York. Based on the information received and the controlled purchases, JENKINS is accountable for 266 grams of heroin.
Investigation of this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Greenville Police Department, and the Farmville Police Department. Special Assistant United States Attorney Glenn Perry was the assigned Prosecutor. Mr. Perry is a prosecutor with the Pitt County District Attorney’s Office. District Attorney Clark Everett has assigned him to the United States Attorney’s Office to prosecute federal Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force criminal matters.
