MID-LEVEL WILSON DRUG DEALER SENTENCED

RALEIGH - United States Attorney Thomas G. Walker announced that in federal court yesterday Chief United States District Judge James C. Dever III, sentenced TRAVIS AHMOND WILLILAMS, 31, to 96 months’ imprisonment.

A Federal Grand Jury returned a Criminal Indictment on May 10, 2011, charging WILLIAMS. On July 18, 2011, WILLIAMS pled guilty to conspiring to distribute and to possess with the intent to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine base (crack).

According to the investigation, in December, 2010, law enforcement officers conducted two controlled purchases of crack cocaine from WILLIAMS. The total quantity of crack purchased during these transactions was 100 grams.

The case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation entitled “Battle Cry.” Investigation of this case was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration the Rocky Mount Police Department, the Wilson Police Department, and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office. Special Assistant United States Attorney Nathan Huff represented the United States in the case. Mr. Huff is an assistant district attorney in the Seventh Prosecutorial District, comprised of Nash, Wilson, and Edgecombe Counties. District Attorney Robert A. Evans has assigned him to the United States Attorney’s Office to prosecute federal drug and organized crime cases. This has been made possible by a grant funded by the Governor’s Crime Commission.
