The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Missoula, on December 2, 2011, before U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy, GUY ERIC WALDRON, a 33-year-old resident of Kalispell, appeared for sentencing. WALDRON was sentenced to a term of:

Prison: 36 months

Special Assessment: $100

Supervised Release: 3 years

WALDRON was sentenced in connection with his guilty plea to escape.

In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paulette L. Stewart, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:

WALDRON, a federally convicted felon who was serving part of a prison sentence at the Butte pre-release center on a supervised release violation, walked away from the Butte pre-release center on June 27, 2011. All attempts to locate WALDRON were unsuccessful and WALDRON was listed as on "escape status" and a warrant was issued.

On July 19, 2011, WALDRON was arrested near Kalispell by law enforcement officers.

Because there is no parole in the federal system, the "truth in sentencing" guidelines mandate that WALDRON will likely serve all of the time imposed by the court. In the federal system, WALDRON does have the opportunity to earn a sentence reduction for "good behavior." However, this reduction will not exceed 15% of the overall sentence.

The investigation was a cooperative effort between the U.S. Marshals Service and Montana Probation and Parole.
