Robert Ryann Woods Sentenced in U.S. District Court
The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Missoula, on January 12, 2011, before U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy, ROBERT RYANN WOODS, a 58-year-old resident of Lakeside, appeared for sentencing. WOODS was sentenced to a term of:
- Prison: 12 months and 1 day
- Special Assessment: $100
- Supervised Release: 2 years
WOODS was sentenced in connection with his guilty plea to making a false statement in a passport application.
In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Bryan R. Whittaker, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:
On October 2, 2008, WOODS willfully and knowingly made a false statement in an application for a passport by failing to disclose that he had previously used the names of Robert William Longwood and Dennis Dale Blanchard on passport applications, and had in fact, been issued a U.S. passport in the name of Robert William Longwood.
Because there is no parole in the federal system, the "truth in sentencing" guidelines mandate that WOODS will likely serve all of the time imposed by the court. In the federal system, WOODS does have the opportunity to earn a sentence reduction for "good behavior." However, this reduction will not exceed 15% of the overall sentence.
