The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Great Falls, on November 15, 2010, before U.S. District Judge Sam E. Haddon, ANGELA R. LITTLE, a 19-year-old resident of Poplar, pled guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon. Sentencing has been set for January 27, 2011. She is currently detained.

In an Offer of Proof filed by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jessica A. Betley and Lori H. Suek, the government stated it would have proved at trial the following:

During the evening of April 9, 2010, the victim and two of the victim's friends were drinking at a house in Poplar, which is within the exterior boundaries of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.

Around 2:00 a.m. on April 10, 2010, LITTLE came into the house. According to LITTLE, two people were asleep on separate couches in the living room and the victim was sitting near the couch. The victim and LITTLE's mother had previously dated on and off and LITTLE did not like the victim.

LITTLE became mad that the victim was at her mother's house, so the victim put on his shoes to leave. As he was leaving, LITTLE attacked him from behind. When the victim got outside he turned around and saw LITTLE holding a knife. The victim lifted his hand to block LITTLE's swing and LITTLE cut the victim's hand with the knife.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he was treated for the injuries to his back, which included five stab wounds by a knife, and the cut to his hand.

LITTLE faces possible penalties of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and 3 years supervised release.

The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Fort Peck Tribes Criminal Investigation Division and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
