The United States Attorney's Office announced that during a federal court session in Great Falls, on June 8, 2010, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Keith Strong, the following individual was arraigned:

DAYNA JEAN BEAR, a 37-year-old resident of Harlem, appeared on charges of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of public housing and on premises where children resided. She is currently detained. If convicted of these charges, BEAR faces possible penalties of a mandatory minimum of 5 years in prison and could be sentenced to 80 years, a $4,000,000 fine and at least 8 years supervised release. First Assistant U.S. Attorney Carl E. Rostad is the prosecutor for the United States. The investigation was a cooperative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Fort Belknap Tribal Law Enforcement and the Tri-County Drug Task Force.

The defendant pled not guilty to the charges.

The charge, an indictment, information or complaint, is merely an accusation and any person named as a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. A pre-trial conference and a trial date will be set and the United States will be required to prove the allegations set forth in the indictment beyond a reasonable doubt.
