Nathaniel Jay Reed Found Guilty in U.S. Federal Court

Bill Mercer, United States Attorney for the District of Montana, announced today that on May 12, 2009, in Billings, after a 11/2-day federal district court trial before Chief U.S. District Judge Richard F. Cebull, NATHANIEL JAY REED, a 21-year-old resident of Crow Agency, was found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse. Sentencing is set for August 20, 2009. He is currently detained.

REED faces possible penalties of life in prison, a $250,000 fine and lifetime supervision.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Lori Harper Suek prosecuted the case for the United States.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
