FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 13, 2011

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Jefferson City, Mo., woman was indicted by a federal grand jury today for two bank robberies in December.

Dwashan Trakese Thompson, 38, of Jefferson City, was charged in a two-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Jefferson City.

Today’s indictment alleges that Thompson stole $1,605 from the Missouri Credit Union, 3123 W. Edgewood Dr., Jefferson City, on Dec. 20, 2010.

Today’s indictment also alleges that Thompson stole $11,850 from Hawthorn Bank, 3701 W. Truman Blvd., Jefferson City, on Dec. 28, 2010.

Phillips cautioned that the charges contained in this indictment are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lawrence E. Miller. It was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Jefferson City, Mo., Police Department, the Cole County, Mo., Sheriff’s Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Cole County, Mo., Prosecutor’s Office.
