SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Galena, Mo., man was indicted by a federal grand jury today for receiving and possessing child pornography as well as trafficking in counterfeit DVDs.

Bruce Alan Starfield, 59, of Galena, was charged in a three-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Springfield, Mo.

Today’s indictment alleges that Starfield received child pornography over the Internet and possessed child pornography between Jan. 28 and Feb. 3, 2011. Starfield is also charged with one count of trafficking in counterfeit DVDs of movies and television programs.

The federal indictment also contains forfeiture allegations, which would require Starfield to forfeit to the government any property used to commit the alleged offenses, including a computer tower, 50 CD-DVDs, four zip drive disks, a laptop computer and 179 DVDs.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Randall D. Eggert. It was investigated by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office of Homeland Security Investigations, the Stone County, Mo., Sheriff’s Department, and the Ozark, Mo., Police Department.
