TWO MEN PLEAD GUILTY TO METH CONSPIRACY


            JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Matt J. Whitworth, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that two men pleaded guilty in federal court today to their role in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in Cole and Moniteau counties.


            Scott Wayne Winter, 50, of Jefferson City, Mo., and Timothy Berle Tate, 49, of Clarksburg, Mo., pleaded guilty in separate appearances before U.S. Magistrate Judge William A. Knox this morning to the charge contained in a Nov. 20, 2008, federal indictment.


            By pleading guilty today, Winter and Tate each admitted to participating in a conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine in Cole and Moniteau counties in Missouri and in Arizona from August 2007 to January 2008. The methamphetamine was mailed from Arizona to Missouri, then distributed to others.


            On Aug. 10, 2009, co-defendant Tina Louise McFalls, 40, of Phoenix, Ariz., pleaded guilty to her role in the conspiracy.


            Under federal statutes, each co-defendant is subject to a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison without parole, up to a sentence of life in federal prison without parole, plus a fine up to $4 million. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the completion of a presentence investigation by the United States Probation Office.


            This case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren Kummerer. It was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
