FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KC MAN INDICTED FOR BANK ROBBERY

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Kansas City, Mo., man was indicted by a federal grand jury today for robbing the Bank of America.

Keeyon M. Dunbar, 22, of Kansas City, was charged with bank robbery in an indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Kansas City. Today’s indictment replaces a federal criminal complaint that was filed against Dunbar on Jan. 13, 2009.

According to the affidavit filed in support of the original criminal complaint, Dunbar entered Bank of America, 8550 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, Mo., on Dec. 6, 2008. Dunbar placed a Fritos potato-chip bag and a note on the teller counter. The note directed the teller to put all the money in the bag. Dunbar also threatened the teller’s life. The teller complied with Dunbar’s demands, then Dunbar reached over the counter, took the Frito’s bag containing $2,413, and left the bank in a stolen car.

Wood cautioned that the charge contained in this indictment is simply an accusation, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charge must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David A. Barnes. It was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department.
