KC MAN SENTENCED TO 20 YEARS FOR CRACK COCAINE
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – John F. Wood, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Kansas City, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine.
Andre L. Dean, 31, of Kansas City, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Ortrie D. Smith this morning to 20 years in federal prison without parole.
On Sept. 24, 2008, Dean pleaded guilty to being in possession of more than 50 grams of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute. Dean was arrested on March 9, 2008, following a traffic stop. Police officers found 77 grams of crack cocaine in a bag behind the dashboard of Dean’s Jeep Grand Cherokee. Police officers also found a loaded Glock 9 mm pistol, with a laser sight, underneath a CD case on the back seat.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul S. Becker. It was investigated by the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department.
