Juvenile Probation Officer Indicted on Drug Trafficking Charges

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FEBRUARY 20, 2008

Baltimore, Maryland - A grand jury indictment charging juvenile probation officer Charles Eugene Tucker, age 42, of Randallstown with drug trafficking offenses was unsealed on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein. Tucker had his initial appearance and is detained, pending a detention hearing in federal district court at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2008.

According to the four count indictment, from 2007 to the present Tucker conspired with others to distribute cocaine and marijuana. On November 17 and 30, 2007 and January 20, 2008, Tucker allegedly distributed cocaine. The indictment seeks forfeiture of a Jeep Cherokee.

Tucker faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for the conspiracy, and 20 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release on each of the three counts of cocaine distribution.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceedings.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Baltimore City Police Department and the Baltimore County Police Department for their investigative work. Mr. Rosenstein commended Assistant United States Attorney Robert Harding, who is prosecuting the case.
