Defendant Admits Selling Drugs and Guns at Bethesda Metro Station

Greenbelt, Maryland - David Glenn Bonett, age 23, of Mt. Airy, Maryland, pleaded guilty today to distribution of Oxycodone and dealing in firearms without a license.

The guilty plea was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Acting Special Agent in Charge Joseph Riehl of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Baltimore Field Division; and Chief J. Thomas Manger of the Montgomery County Police Department.

According to the plea agreement, on five occasions from January 25, 2010 through April 28, 2010, Bonett met an undercover Montgomery County Police Department detective at the metro station in Bethesda, Maryland to sell the undercover detective guns and/or drugs. During the time frame, Bonett and the detective exchanged text messages and had telephone conversations about firearms and narcotics.

Specifically, on January 25, 2010, Bonett sold the undercover detective a Taurus semi-automatic pistol and a magazine for $800 and told the undercover detective he could obtain and sell several other firearms, including a .45 caliber pistol; on March 10, 2010, Bonett sold the undercover detective a Taurus semi-automatic pistol and two magazines for $900; on March 16, 2010, Bonett sold the undercover detective an Intratec semi-automatic pistol with three loaded magazines for $750, and gave the undercover detective four small quantities of marijuana. On April 15, 2010, Bonett sold the undercover detective a .40 caliber semi-automatic firearm, three magazines, one gram of marijuana, and 50 80mg Oxycontin pills for $3,150. Finally, on April 28, 2010, Bonett sold the undercover detective half a pound of marijuana and 10 80mg Oxycontin pills.

Bonett faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison for distribution of Oxycodone and a maximum of five years in prison for dealing in firearms without a license. U.S. District Judge Peter J. Messitte has scheduled sentencing for September 23, 2010 at 9:30 a.m.
