Randallstown Man Sentenced to over 8 Years in Prison For Armed Robbery of Bank in Easton

Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge James K. Bredar sentenced Donald Tyrone Gross, age 44, of Randallstown, Maryland, today to 100 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for armed bank robbery. Judge Bredar also sentenced co-defendant Sherice Lacheryl Gunther, age 32, also of Randallstown, today to 91 days in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for aiding and abetting the robbery.

The sentence was announced by United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein; Special Agent in Charge Richard A. McFeely of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and Easton Police Department Chief David A. Spencer.

According to their guilty pleas, on April 25, 2011, Gross and his girlfriend, Gunther, traveled to Easton, Maryland where Gross determined which bank to rob. Gross had Gunther scope out a couple of banks before he targeted the PNC Bank on 104 Marlboro Avenue. Gross entered the bank with a toy gun he had previously taken from Gunther’s infant son and wrapped in a sock to appear more realistic. He gave a bank teller a demand note and lifted his shirt to reveal what the teller believed to be a gun stuck in his waistband. Gross stole $5,000, and he and Gunther were driven away. The next day, Gross and Gunther were arrested and Gross confessed that he robbed the bank.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the FBI and Easton Police Department for their work in the investigation. Mr. Rosenstein thanked Assistant United States Attorney P. Michael Cunningham, who prosecuted the case.
